Punishment for Driving While Impaired has become increasingly more punitive.  We would like this website to serve as a forum to communicate and exchange ideas,  in order to have a positive impact on individual freedoms, without a decrease in traffic safety.

Instead of of making criminals out of good citizens, let's work together to find safe and legal alternatives for the impaired individual to get to their destination.

Traffic Safety, statistically:

  • 1/3 rd of traffic fatalities are alcohol related.
  • 1/3 rd of traffic fatalities are caused by speeding.
  • 1/3 rd of traffic fatalities are linked to running red lights, driving while distracted, reckless driving, etc.

Why focus only on penalizing "impaired drivers", whom are considered responsible for a portion of traffic fatalities?

How about providing a solution to increase all traffic safety?

It is the size of the vehicles, along with the speed of the vehicles, that are inherently dangerous.

Proposal #1:

Bicycling while Impaired should be decriminalized, in order to provide a safe and legal independent transportation alternative for the impaired individual.

Consider these advantages:

  • Independent Transportation Alternative
  • Less Vehicles on the Roads
  • No Emissions
  • Less Traffic Congestion
  • Less Road Decay
  • Increase Personal Freedom

Proposal #2:

Allow Low-Speed Electric Vehicles (LSEV's) to be Driven While Impaired, in neighborhoods and select streets.  These LSEV's are comparable to a golf cart.  Low-Speed Electric Vehicles can provide a number of benefits to traffic safety, the environment, and our economy.

Consider these advantages:

  • Slower Speeds of Traffic (35 mph and under)
  • Smaller Vehicles on the Roads
  • No Emissions
  • Less Traffic Congestion
  • Less Road Decay
  • Increase Personal Freedom
  • Decrease Dependence on Oil
  •  Stimulate an American Independent Alternative Energy Market

Instead of a tax incentive, it may be considered a "drinking while impaired incentive."  It would provide a stimulus to our economy, support a green initiative, and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

PADDL supports Bicycling While Impaired and Low-Speed Electric Vehices as non-violent and environmentally-friendly indpendent  transportation alternatives which should not be subject to the same penalties that are placed on motorists for Driving While Impaired.
